A Mixed Pot of Update

Hey All,

Here's a quick update of some of the latest news.

The gym ministry has been going well. We have had over 30 people sign up for the gym and about 10 are pretty regular. (Many people sign up but don't stick with it). We have been able to have good discussions with them, always praying when we train. Two of the guys, Philip and Alfred, have agreed to studies with Jeremiah. Last Sunday, we went to visit Philip and his family on our family walk. He has 3 kids, a nine year old, a three year old and an infant. We then went and visited the family of one of the ladies that Brittney trains, Emmanuella. Her dad showed us around his house and treated our kids to some rice and stew- yummy! They were an extremely friendly family, and we pray that God may use us to reach them. Another of the gym guys, Alfred, lives and works within about 2 blocks of our house. He is a law student at the University, and is a neat young man who has been very regular in the gym. Jeremiah will be visiting him at the house for studies this week.

Another of Jeremiah's friends, Elias, came back from summer break. Before he went on break Jeremiah was having Bible studies with him and Elias really enjoys them. We've already made a plan to resume our studies soon. When he came back, he brought a few gifts from Besong-Abang, his home village which is near Mamfe. He brought a Bible in his language, Kenyang, which is the same language that Frederick speaks, along with some coconuts and oranges. It's encouraging to see that he feels like he has been blessed by our studies.

Brittney has been able to help start a young women's fellowship to help the young ladies in the Church deal with some of the challenges they face day-to-day. The meet every other week to discuss and try and come out with solutions. Brittney is trying to steer the group from a law-based solution towards a faith-based solution. We will also be having our once-a-month youth night this coming Tuesday.

Our car situation as of now is this- we have been receiving donations from individuals, churches and organizations to help us out with replacing our car. The 4Runner is being beaten (literally- they call the body shop the panel beater) back into shape so we can try and sell it. In the meantime, we are also car-shopping, trying to find something reliable AND affordable. We pray that we can do this sooner than later, as we were unable to go to Maumu this month for Jeremiah to preach because we can't get there in a taxi, and we won't all fit (at least safely) on the back of a motorcycle.

As you can see, we thank God we have been able to stay pretty busy the last weeks, and we pray that we can continue to have the faith to keep stepping through doors that God opens. Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement, and keep on shining!

Jeremiah and Brittney
